This Fall at Irvington Library Children's Room!

We think the Children's Room at Irvington Public Library is one of the jewels of The Rivertowns and you don't have to be an Irvington resident to enjoy it!  *Registration is required for all programs, except as noted. Please call the library at 591-7840 or drop by the children’s room. Also note that some of the special programs do give Irvington residents "first dibs" but we have found that they are otherwise extremely inclusive!  And don't forget, library cards can be used at all Westchester libraries ...

Friday, September 3 - Hastings Friday Night LIVE: “Hastings Harvest"

Celebrate the bounty of food related treasures found within Hastings-on-Hudson! Boulanger Plaza will be transformed into an open-air market with food from your favorite restaurants in town, the farmer's market, and more! Saturday, September 4 through Monday, September 6 - The Green Corn Festival

The Green Corn Festival explores the history and culture of the area's Native American residents. Enjoy folk tales, song, and storytelling, and a participatory presentation of traditional Native American dance, plus open-hearth cooking demonstrations, games, live music, and hands-on craft activities for children. Susan McLellan Plaisted will demonstrate Native American cooking and medicine making. Arthur Kermss returns with demonstrations of wampum-making and treenware (wooden bowls and utensils). Tastefully Yours of Briarcliff will provide picnic food.

Egg Collecting: Pitch in with hands-on farm activities every Saturday and Sunday this spring, and see how farm life changes with the seasons! Learn about what’s growing at Stone Barns and lend a hand in the Greenhouse or Vegetable Field. Sunday, September 12 - Bicycle Sundays

It back!!! One of our favorite happenings, a portion of the Bronx River Parkway closes to cars for the exclusive use of bicyclists, joggers, walkers, and those with scooters and strollers.  The course runs from the Westchester County Center in White Plains, south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers, a round-trip of 13.1 miles.  There are many points of entry and exit along the way. September 12, 19 and 26.  Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
