Music for Aardvarks with Groove

top image

We are long-time fans of this rocking music program which has a new, convenient Scarsdale location at Tumblebugs, a place most of our readers are familiar with and enjoy.  Why do we like Aardvarks so much?  Well, our guitar obsessed child not only gets to jam with TWO talented guitarists each week, but is allowed to TOUCH the instruments at the end of class….something he is not allowed to do at home with his Daddy's guitars.  Also, the award winning music is great;  catchy, thoughtful and useful!   My favorite?  "If you're very very quiet and you listen carefully, you can hear the wind blowing through the trees!"  It really quiets him down and redirects him to listen when NOTHING else will work!  Other songs incorporate bluegrass, beautifully melodic lullabies, rock and lots of other styles.  This sophisticated but accessible variety works for our very musical family.

But the BEST part of Music for Aardvarks is the way it nurtures our child's active spirit by allowing him to experience the music in whatever way moves him at the time.  This is invaluable to us because he's not going to sit in a circle and participate if he doesn't want to and hey, music is meant to be enjoyed and experienced!  This doesn't mean he never participates in the games and movement that revolve around the music, but he has the option and that leads to a happier kid who can't wait to go back again and again.

This combination of great music performed by truly talented musicians and a structured yet open play experience are what make this program perfect for our active, musically inclined toddler.

Check out Groove's Family Jams and other programs!   In addition to Tumblebugs, Scarsdale they have locations in Larchmont and New Rochelle.  http://www.findgroove.com
