FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Does My Child Need Prior Fencing Experience?

No. Our camps include many students who are trying fencing for the first time. This is a great way to introduce your child to the sport!

My Child is a competitive fencer, is this camp appropriate for them?

Yes, we have different levels of the students in camp including competitive fencers and our coaching staff provides different instruction and groupings for competitive fencers. Please feel free to email us at info@timmorehousefencing.com to discuss your individual situation.

Does My Child Need Fencing Equipment?

No. Fencing equipment will be provided for all students during the camp.

What Does My Child Need For Camp?

1. To pack their own lunch and snacks. We have a fridge on premises where they can keep there food cold. Please do not pack any peanut based foods for your child. We have students with allergies and try to keep the camps peanut free.

2.Students should bring a water bottle.

3. Dress in athletic attire: sneakers, long athletic pants (no shorts or sandals allowed. Students will not be able to fence if they are wearing sandals)

What if my child Needs to Change Weeks?

Weeks of camp are non-refundable but we do allow students to switch weeks within the summer so long as there are still weeks remaining. Any camp days or weeks not used will expire at the end of the summer.

What is the student-teacher ratio?

We keep an 8-1 student-ratio for classes and camps at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club.

Should My Child Try Foil or Saber?

The fundamentals are taught similarly in both saber and foil at this age range. Students who have already been fencing will receive training focused on their current weapon but new students will try both foil and saber during the week. Most children will indicate a preference once they’ve tried both disciplines. Students can always try one week of saber and other of foil and decide later.
