New Boardwalk Unvieling at Cranberry Lake Preserve

June 4, 2024

North White Plains, NY  (June 3, 2024) - Westchester Parks Foundation, whose mission is to invest in, advocate for, and enhance the over 50 parks of the Westchester county parks system, today held a ribbon cutting for the re-opening of the South Pond Boardwalk at Cranberry Lake Preserve in North White Plains.

This area was washed away during Superstorm Sandy back in 2012. The WPF took on this restoration project earlier this spring and helped reconstruct the boardwalk and made it accessible to all to enjoy. The boardwalk is its 240 feet and has a new handrail making it easier for people to cross.  The project was funded through the proceeds from WPF annual holiday fundraiser – Westchester’s Winter Wonderland.

To help with ongoing maintenance of this area, visitors also have the opportunity to memorialize their support of the preserve by engraving a plank in the new boardwalk as some supporters already have begun.  To make a donation, please visit thewpf.org
