Breastfeed with Certainty Prenatal Class

The Breastfeed with Certainty Prenatal Class is held virtually. This class provides an opportunity for pregnant women and their partner or support person to learn about breastfeeding. The group is facilitated by Sonia Mathisson, IBCLC, MS, RD. Topics include: latching and positioning, benefits of skin-to-skin, how to make sure baby is getting enough milk, partner’s role and community resources.

Living With Loss Support Group
Wednesdays, January 6 and 20, Noon to 1:00 PM
This group is facilitated by the Coordinator of the hospital’s Chaplain Program, it is nonreligious and focused on living after the death of a loved one. That loss could be a spouse, child, partner, friend, or anyone close to you. The program is offered to provide additional support for those in the grieving process.

Bariatric Support Group
Wednesday, January 6, 6:00 to 7:00 PM
Out of an abundance of caution related to COVID-19, this support group’s meetings are held by telephone. This group is facilitated by Ashley Fleischhauer, RN, BSN, and Manager of the hospital’s Bariatric Program, which achieved national accreditation.

Breastfeeding Support Group
Friday, January 8 and 22, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Until further notice, meetings for post-partum women and their babies have resumed in-person. Space is limited and registration is required. This group is run by an IBCLC (Lactation Consultant) and is offered to new mothers who are looking for breastfeeding/pumping support.

Car Seat Safety and Proper Installation Techniques
Saturday, January 9, 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM
NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital’s Obstetrics Department Magnet nurses and Peekskill Police Department officers invite the public to receive free assistance with the installation of your car seat or invite you to get your already installed car seat inspected for safety. Out of an abundance of caution related to COVID-19, the driver/passengers are required to wear masks (which are also supplied on site) and will need to leave the vehicle for the car seat inspection or installation.

Breast Cancer Support Group

Out of an abundance of caution related to COVID-19, Support Connection, Inc.’s monthly Breast Cancer Support Group is held via toll-free teleconference. The group discusses issues pertaining to all stages of diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment.
