When searching up color runs I came across this amazingly succesful color run from Jordan Camino at Spearman Elementary School. I was blown away to learn they exceeded their goal of $33,000 which still leaves me just shocked so I had to reach out to Jordan to ask her if I could share just how they did it.
We hosted our very first fundraiser (Spearman Sprint COLOR RUN) without bringing in a company. We are a title one school of about 670ish students!
We utilized UWalk (completely free online donation page, uses PayPal) our school’s online page.
We got year-long business partners and a company made signs for them.
We had the teachers make videos with a color/word of the day and the entire school wore that color for the day.
We had a cut through track with the handful of students that couldn’t run through the powder or if they choose to not run the color. We had baby wipes and leaf blowers/ large fans to blow the kids off and helped cool them down. The kids have a dance party after the run and then a cool down recess. They got water and popsicles.
Sunglasses- Had them on hand for the kids
Color Powder- We purchased off Amazon - it is made by Chameleon Colors and was $98 a box. We bought 5 colors (2 of each box) for a total of 10 boxes so the cost was $980. Was a great amount for 670 students. We purchased buckets from Dollar Tree to split up for each grade. Have more powder for the higher grades as they are larger kids. We used cups to hold the powder and spoons to toss on the students. We found that wetting the powder a little helped it not just go in the air as much, easier to run through.
Balloon Arch- we purchased a kit. Use good quality balloons, took about 2.5 hrs to fully assemble.
Get automatic pumps to fill the balloons.
