and her business The Lice Lady of Westchester

By Rachel Fenty Macaroni Kid Publisher and Anna Krosche April 25, 2016
There is a 4 letter word in my house that is worse than any other bad word there is, LICE. Just the thought of that word seriously makes my skin crawl. We've dealt with lice twice. Both times were over the summer and literally turned our house upside down. This weeks momtrepreneur deserves a special award for not running and hiding from the creepy crawlies! Anna Krosche and her business "The Lice Lady of Westchester" (FULL DISCLOSURE I AM SCRATCHING AS I TYPE THIS)

What was the moment in your life that inspired you to start your business
?
Necessity is the mother of invention! My kids got lice and it took me 2 months to get rid of it. I was using the over-the-counter pesticides that weren't working. I was finally able to get rid of it using an all natural, safe treatment method and this is how it all begain in 1998.

Is there a woman in business that inspires you?

A woman who inspires me is Barbara Corcoran. I'm inspired by her determination to show the business world how strong, passionate and intelligent she is by achieving outstanding success. Her ability to stand up and negotiate for what she wants on a panel of assertive men is something I admire and a quality I am constantly working to achieve.

Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years? The next ten years?

My business grew so much from 2014 to 2015 and I hired 2 additional employees to keep up with the demand. My business is continuing to grow and within the next couple of years, I will need to get a bigger salon. In 10 years, I will have a second location.

What are the biggest issues for running this business?

It's 7 days a week, cause lice is always an emergency! My customers call all the time wether is day or night, even at midnight!
