Review: Rosedale Nursery

This summer my husband and I tackled our yard. We have beautiful green grass but it was boring. Growing up I would spend weekends in the yard with my mom planting flowers, weeding and turning over soil but I never learned why I was doing what I was doing and when it came time to pick out flowers and shrubs I was really overwhelmed.
At first I tried out a local big chain hardware store that has a "garden center" sounds like a great place to start doesn't it? Nope, not for me! Rows and rows of different plants and shrubs, mulch and soil, I was drowning and walked out with my head hung low and gave up. That same weekend we were driving down the Saw Mill River Parkway and what seemed like a sign I saw it "Rosedale Nursery". I reached out to the nursery and was reassured someone there would help me make the right choice. It was also comforting to know that no one would laugh at me since I really had no idea what we were doing.
I thought that it would be a good idea to visit the nursery first to check out a few different options. I spoke to Toivo and explained to him where we wanted to put the shrubs. two in our back yard to dress up around a huge rock and two to put in front of the house to create some privacy. The two  shrubs in the front need to be able to withstand road dust and being in the sun most of the day. He recommended viburnum shrubs since they grow wider than taller and would do well in the places we want to put them.

When I returned the following week it was of course starting to rain! Toivo remembered me right away and we found the four perfect shrubs! Two Mariesii Viburnum that I named Lucy and Ethel  and two popcorn viburnum Fred and Barney. He loaded them up onto a cart and drove them to the parking area for me. Check out was a breeze and they were even nice enough to lay plastic down in my van and loaded them up.

Overall my experience with Rosedale was beyond my expectations. They took away so much of the stresses that I was facing. I almost gave up the day I went to the bigger chain "garden center".  Thank you Rosedale Nursery!!!
